I’ve held many roles and titles, so I like the way the heat map illustrates the the depth of product and engineering knowledge I draw upon when crafting or testing my designs.
It also effectively visualizes the threads I’ve followed in education, language and art over time.
“Systems design thinking considers interconnectedness, relationships, complexity, and causality. Systems for building, whether digital or physical, necessarily break things down into the smallest components and look to simplify, abstract, and find repeatable processes.
I stand out as a designer because I can wrap my head around both sides of the equation and chart a course between the two. That has helped me to bring ideas, big and small, to life.”
Patterns
I drew the patterns featured in the homepage header of this site to illustrate my sense of place. Each is inspired by somewhere I have lived.
I see pattern recognition and creation as a significant part of any design, so in addition to conveying a bit about the places that influence me, the patterns are an apt metaphor for the kinds of work I enjoy.
